What Loose photos are
They're the photos you upload on the fly: they land here and stay safe, even before you decide where to put them.
Loose photos exist for one reason: to get the question «and where do I put these?» out of the way while you're still uploading. You dump the photos in, they go up, they're safe. Giving them a name and a home is something you do later, and meanwhile you haven't lost them.
When you want to upload now and sort things out later.
They aren't an album to share: from here photos move into a Dump, and that's what you send around.
How to use it
- 1You dump the photos in
From the centre button of the bottom bar, the row that says «Upload as loose photos». It asks you nothing: no title, no date, no album to pick.
- 2They stay there as long as you like
You'll find them in your Box, in the Loose photos section, below your Dumps and Collections. They stay there for as long as you want: no expiry, no automatic clean-up.
- 3When you're ready, you group them
Select the ones that belong together and make a Dump out of them. If they're from the same day and the same place, we'll suggest it ourselves.
Questions
Can anyone else see my Loose photos?
No. Loose photos are yours alone: they have no link, no QR code, and they never show up in Explore. They're the one part of Dumpbox that can't be shared, and that's deliberate: they're meant to be the place where you dump without thinking.
Do they take up space even outside a Dump?
Yes, they're real photos on your storage. Moving them into a Dump doesn't change how much room they take: it only changes where you find them.
If I create a Dump, do the photos stay loose?
Not the ones you selected: they move into the Dump. The rest stay in Loose photos, waiting. If any of them fails to move we tell you, instead of letting you believe it's somewhere it isn't.
