What the Bucket is
The Bucket exists for one reason: to get the question «and where do I put these?» out of the way while you're still uploading. You dump the photos in, they go up, they're safe. Giving them a name and a home is something you do later, and meanwhile you haven't lost them.
It's the box for loose photos: whatever you upload on the fly lands here and stays safe, even before you decide where to put it.
When you want to upload now and sort things out later.
It isn't an album to share: from the Bucket photos move into a Dump, and that's what you send around.
How to use it
- 1You dump the photos in
From the centre button of the bottom bar, the row that says «Dump photos into the Bucket». It asks you nothing: no title, no date, no album to pick.
- 2They stay there as long as you like
The Bucket is the first section of your Box. Photos sit there for as long as you want: no expiry, no automatic clean-up.
- 3When you're ready, you group them
Select the ones that belong together and make a Dump out of them. If they're from the same day and the same place, we'll suggest it ourselves.
Questions
Can anyone else see the photos in my Bucket?
No. The Bucket is yours alone: it has no link, no QR code, and it never shows up in Explore. It's the one part of dumpbox that can't be shared, and that's deliberate — it's meant to be the place where you dump without thinking.
Do they take up space even outside a Dump?
Yes, they're real photos on your storage. Moving them into a Dump doesn't change how much room they take: it only changes where you find them.
If I create a Dump, do the photos leave the Bucket?
The ones you selected do, they move into the Dump. The rest stay in the Bucket waiting. If any of them fails to move we tell you, instead of letting you believe it's somewhere it isn't.
What about the other three?
They're four different things that only look alike by name. Here are the other three, one line each.
